Werner team paddler, Paul Kuthe, gives a new perspective on sea kayaking as he takes on some serious tidal races. Check him out in National Geographics Fringe Elements.
Happy Easter from the family at Werner Paddles, we hope the day is filled with friends and loved ones. Bill Thompson, a good paddler, a better friend and one of the owners of Down Wind Sports in Marquette Michigan shared his Easter morning with us and it was an easy lock for the Photo of the Day.
Now as you know I always stick to the, "No politics-no religion" policy on the Werner Paddles blog. But I think you have to smile on Bill's philosophy this morning. "Location was Little Presque Isle Lake, Marquette Michigan. Superior Sunrise Service Paddle. You see.....I would rather be paddling thinking of God (or some other higher being) then to be in a church thinking of paddling." I think we all wish the winter would just go away, I mean it is Easter!! But I think Bill's paddling companion is still pretty awesome. Thanks Buddy, we appreciate the photo and the words of widom! This year's NOC Freestyle Shootout, part of the national USAFK Points Series, is set for April 15-17, 2011. The 2011 event will likely be the last year of competition on the original freestyle feature before enhancements are made for the 2012 World Cup event and the 2013 ICF World Freestyle Championships in the Nantahala Gorge.
Be a part of the original, small-time event before things go major league! We again offer classes for paddlers of all boat types, ages and skill levels.
Note that the Shootout shares the weekend with NOC's perennial spring festival, Demo Days, where 60+ boats will be available for free test-paddling on the Nantahala. Manufacturer, including Werner Paddles Bryan Heartman will be on hand to answer questions about the year's hottest gear, and bargains will be available for paddlers looking to upgrade.
Abby was not too stoked as the rain poured down upon her and Samantha as they broke camp on Parksville Lake in Ocoee Tn and headed for home. Some how she found the energy to perch herself upon the deck and lead the way. Samantha is one of the great staff people at Rock Creek Downunder in Chattanooga, Tn. Thanks for the photos gals!
