Thanks to Carly Tilloston for her photo and short story about why SUP in New England is so important to her soul, yet SO challenging to her mind and body. You can find Carly on the New England SUP race tour this season and hanging on the couch with Spot the dog at Nor-Easter Surf Shop.
"When it comes to the life of paddling, I have to face the chaotic conditions of New England weather. Between snow, sun, wind and rain, you never know what weather will come next. It seems like even the weather reporters don’t know what to predict. I have to face any type of condition on the water weather I am wearing a winter suit in December while its snowing out, or no wetsuit in August. People call me crazy, but I call it passion and dedication. Being a paddle boarder in New England makes me a stronger paddler and facing the challenging weather also makes the sport unique."
