Wanting to wait for the importance of the Holiday weekend to pass and all to be attentive, we are proud to make the anticipated announcement that Rush Sturges will be joining the Werner Paddles white water Team for 2013.
The announcement is equally exciting as he is the second of the high profile duo we elluded to late last week on Werner Paddles Facebook, making his debut alongside new Team mate Haley Mills.
Rush grew up in Forks of Salmon, California, His upbringing at Otter Bar Lodge exposed him to kayaking at a young age. Although well recognized as one of the world’s most talented white water paddlers, he shares his passion of boating with film making. As a teen he learned the trade shooting and editing videos of Otter Bar's week long kayaking retreats, which he would then sell to that week's clients.
At nearly 18 he co-founded Young Gun Productions to document the kayaking exploits of his peers and released their debut film, The Next Generation. He now owns his own production company, River Roots. River Roots.
An accomplished rodeo boater, in 2003, Sturges won the Junior World Championships and later went on to represent the U.S. at the freestyle kayaking world championships twice, however it is his creek boating and BIG WATER freestyle paddling that keeps him in the media light today.
